Ismail Kadare was born in Gjirokastër, January 28th 1936, and he has recently won the Prince of Asturias Awards of Literature  due to “the beauty of his work and his deep compromise with literature“.
The prize was not a surprise, specially because he’s a world wide famous writer and poet and because he has been a candidate for the Nobel Prize of literature several times.
No doubt about it: he’s the most famous albanian writer. In fact I’m not able to write down another albanian writer.
